The Senior Account Lead will lead commercial account sales for unbranded fuels, manage complex customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, and support Products Trading across U.S. commodity markets. The role also involves coordinating deal structures, market intelligence, deal lifecycles, customer operations, risk management, and supply-chain collaboration.
Responsibilities
Own the customer interface and developing strong, relationships with commercial accounts to build and reinforce Shell’s presence in local markets
Lead the management of complex, multi-region and multi-product commercial accounts, ensuring seamless coordination across diverse markets and product lines. They will anticipate customer needs, aligning with regional strategies, and proactively developing solutions that support sustained business growth and strategic account objectives
Take responsibility for planning and supporting and ensuring alignment with the integrated commercial team. You are expected to approach these objectives holistically, leveraging collaboration across teams and integrating regional commercial strategy into customer-specific plans. This role is designed to contribute to the overall integrated book for the region. Performance will be measured by the effectiveness in supporting the integrated commercial strategy and enabling value delivery across the book, rather than being specifically targeted on individual volume or margin outcomes, in recognition of the nature of the P&L
Serve as the focal point for local markets, gathering and relaying pricing discovery, market intelligence, customer RFQs, and competitor insights to the broader commercial team, ensuring real-time awareness of pricing and liquidity in the physical markets
Champion market expertise in assigned business areas, leveraging market information and customer feedback to maximize business opportunities
Collaborate with traders to design and implement tailored deal structures for commercial accounts, enhancing customer value and supporting the acquisition of new business for Shell
Oversee the complete deal life cycle, including exposure management, accurate deal entry, and post-deal activities, ensuring compliance and operational excellence throughout
Work closely with the customer operations team to ensure customer satisfaction, service excellence, and process optimization
Partner with credit, supply, and operations teams to balance business growth with risk management, and maintain/improve customer relationships
Collaborate across organizations and supply chains to optimize commercial barrels and support strategic business objectives
Engage with other Shell businesses (COBs) to serve customers seamlessly and share new opportunities
Skills
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
At least 10 years of relevant experience
Solid business acumen and a commercial mindset
Solid proven track record in a B2B commercial role
Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships while working virtually
Knowledge of key account management
Strong negotiation and influencing skills
Strong Market Awareness
Demonstrate Enterprise First behaviors
Ability to work effectively in a team environment yet possessing the willingness to work independently with minimal guidance / supervision
Bachelor's Degree preferred
